The famous bright blue colour of the blue and white painted porcelain is derived from cobalt. Through mixing this mineral into liquid porcelain slip with varying quantities of sand and stoneware clay I was able to create several shades of blue ceramic. Much as in the same way with the Earthjars series I layered this porcelain along with other clays, sawdust, rice, beans and small found blue and white teacups and other ceramic objects. For this piece I used brick moulds like I did previoulsy in India for the Potters Place sculpture. This work was created as a concept design piece for internal walls within a building.
